Psalm 114 in Hebrew and English

1בְּצֵאת יִשְׂרָאֵל מִמִּצְרָיִם בֵּית יַעֲקֹב מֵעַם לֹעֵז׃

When Israel came forth out of Egypt, The house of Jacob from a people of strange language;

2הָיְתָה יְהוּדָה לְקָדְשׁוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל מַמְשְׁלוֹתָיו׃

Judah became His sanctuary, Israel His dominion.

3הַיָּם רָאָה וַיָּנֹס הַיַּרְדֵּן יִסֹּב לְאָחוֹר׃

The sea saw it, and fled; The Jordan turned backward.

4הֶהָרִים רָקְדוּ כְאֵילִים גְּבָעוֹת כִּבְנֵי־צֹאן׃

The mountains skipped like rams, The hills like young sheep.

5מַה־לְּךָ הַיָּם כִּי תָנוּס הַיַּרְדֵּן תִּסֹּב לְאָחוֹר׃

What aileth thee, O thou sea, that thou fleest? Thou Jordan, that thou turnest backward?

6הֶהָרִים תִּרְקְדוּ כְאֵילִים גְּבָעוֹת כִּבְנֵי־צֹאן׃

Ye mountains, that ye skip like rams; Ye hills, like young sheep?

7מִלִּפְנֵי אָדוֹן חוּלִי אָרֶץ מִלִּפְנֵי אֱלוֹהַּ יַעֲקֹב׃

Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the God of Jacob;

8הַהֹפְכִי הַצּוּר אֲגַם־מָיִם חַלָּמִישׁ לְמַעְיְנוֹ־מָיִם׃

Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of waters.
