Parashat Tetzaveh

Pure olive oil is to be brought for a lamp that burns continually. Aaron and his sons are set apart as priests, and their garments are described in detail: the ephod, the breastplate set with twelve stones for the twelve tribes, the robe with bells and pomegranates at its hem, the golden headplate engraved "Holy to the LORD," the tunic, the sash and the turban. A seven-day ceremony inaugurates the priests with offerings and anointing oil. The daily offering of two lambs is established, and the portion closes with the small golden altar for incense. It is the only portion from Moses' birth to the end of Deuteronomy that does not mention his name.
