Parashat Miketz

Two years later Pharaoh dreams of seven lean cows swallowing seven fat ones. The cupbearer remembers Joseph, who interprets the dreams as seven years of plenty followed by seven of famine and proposes a plan. Pharaoh makes him second in the kingdom. When the famine reaches Canaan, Jacob sends ten sons to buy grain. Joseph recognizes them, accuses them of spying, holds Simeon, and demands to see Benjamin. On the second visit he seats them at his table and then plants his silver goblet in Benjamin's sack, setting up the test that ends the portion.
